Hula hoops from plastic trash : An initiative for the environment

Empty used water bottles are a common sight (and a nuisance) these days, as millions of bottles are thrown into environment everyday.

Given the fact that water bottles do not biodegrade, but rather photodegrade. This means that it takes at least up to 1,000 years for every single bottle to decompose, polluting the water and killing hundreds of thousands of marine animals through choking or poisoning annually.

Nakshatra Hula Hoops has come up with a noble idea to recycle these bottles to manufacture hula hoops!

These bottles are made of food grade PET, and can be easily recycled to make hollow tubes, which are used in making of hula hoops – said Prachi Bhatia, the 22 year old CEO of Nakshatra Hula Hoops.

So while this plastic could have been a menace and threat to the environment, it can rather be a hula hoop that can add fitness and fun to the lives of the people.
